I have been hearing about the wilderness only through words.
Why
is it a barren wilderness
without
even one green tree
or one head of grass
from the east to the west?
Ah, desolated wilderness,
Ah, lonely wilderness,
Ah, scorching wilderness,
Ah, it is the heartless land.
It is a sky without clouds,
and a ground without rain.
A heart without God
is like the desolate wilderness
and barren desert.
God is
like a spring in the desert
and like rainfall that pours endlessly on the wilderness.
If it rains on this wilderness,
on mountains and fields, then plants and grass would be overgrown everywhere.
God allows
the sweet rain of grace to fall,
to make the plants and grass become overgrown everywhere
in my heart and in your heart, which are like the wilderness.
So it becomes the ideal world.
