A satisfying life

본문 .

Message: Pastor Jung Myeong Seok

Whoever one may be, a human being wants to live a satisfying life. If you want to live a satisfying life, you should do each day’s work faithfully. This is one of secrets to being successful. It does depend on what kind of you work you do, but when you work faithfully on each day’s work, you can live a satisfying life.

It is hard to finish that day’s works on that day. As it says in the scripture in the book of Matthew, if you do each day’s work, you will encounter troubles. When you do the work, you will encounter  troubles. However, if you push forward, you will finish the day’s work.

If you live a satisfying life on one day, you will be content, be thankful throughout winter*, and realize how satisfying [life] is. When you finish each day’s work, you will come to live a satisfying life and rewarding life.

[*Translator’s note: This message was delivered in winter.]

Today too: you have today’s work. You must finish today’s work today and you must absolutely not be lazy. When you work, you must make haste.

At the end, once you have finished the  work, you usually find that you are  pressed for time. Therefore, you must work hastily. Work hastily but in a calm and orderly way.

Do the work when you are given the work. ‘Do today’s work today’ means to work when the work is given, work when you have spare time, work when you are given the opportune time, work when you have the chance, or work at Kairos* time. You should work at that moment. Do all the work in that way.

Work can also be done when it is given.

If there is something you want to do, if you do not do it at that moment, you cannot do it. When you are given the work, that moment, that time, or that instant, is the chance.

I bless that  as the message says, everyone will absolutely learn to do each day’s work each day and always live a satisfying life in the Lord.

*Kronos - Greek (Chronological [or sequential] time)

The ancient Greeks had two words for time, kronos and kairos. Kronos is time in Greek philosophy, and the name itself means time; Kronos is also one of the gods of the Golden Age.

Kronos refers to chronological [or sequential] time.

It is determined by the natural sunrise and sunset and by the revolution and rotation of the earth.

Therefore, in sociological [ideology], being able to manage time well refers to kronos time.

*Kairos - Greek (logical time)

In Greek mythology, Kairos is one of Zeus’ sons.  He is called the ‘god of the opportune moment’.

It is conscious, subjective time, an opportune moment that determined your life at the moment of choice, and a time of determination. Time is given to everyone fairly, but everyone lives at a different time.

Even though [everyone] lives the same 24 hours, the speed of that 24 hours for one person is different from the speed for another. One hour of work that you did not want to do and one hour of work that you wanted to do would feel different.

Whether it be a moment in which you are happy beyond measure or a moment in which you experience pain and difficulty, once it has a special meaning, it is kairos time.

You cannot control Kronos time, which flows endlessly; however, you can control Kairos time depending on how you set your mind.
