Tired? 'Escape' from burnout syndrome in Wolmyeongdong over a weekend.

Burnout syndrome is gaining a lot of attention from office workers whose lives are ‘tiring’ due to contined overtime, unwanted group dining, and overwork. It is known that eighty-five percent of office workers in Korea suffer from this syndrome.

Burnout syndrome refers to the state of exhaustion that results from extreme physical and mental fatigue at work. It causes sleep disorders, depression, a decline in cognitive ability, etc., and it leads to mental symptoms such as lethargy, self-hate, and a refusal to work.

You should ask yourself the following questions--if you answer yes to three or more, you can suspect burnout syndrome: Do you feel that you are not attractive when you open your eyes in the morning? Have you experienced a change in your memory ability recently and have you become more forgetful? Do things that you would have once overlooked now irritate you and cause you to become uncontrollably upset? Do you have the desire to go off somewhere? Are things that were once enjoyable to you now dull and boring, and do you no longer feel the happiness of life?

Stepping out of the pressure and stress from work and stepping out of the tiring environment and having a brief time of leisure will help relieve the burnout syndrome. One approach is to let the body and mind rest by listening to soothing meditation music while mingling with nature.

If you walk on the Wolmyeongdong trails and look at the summer trees that emit stronger green light, your eyes and mind will feel purified. If you sing praises on top of that and enjoy the freedom, the stress built up in your mind will be washed away before you even realize. Now that summer has begun, college students who suffered from anxiety and stress from striving to achieve good grades and searching for jobs during the semester are having a time of relaxation for their hearts and minds as they rest under the Wolmyeongdong trees.

Experts say that since excessive concentration on projects and other tasks causes mental deprivation and lethargy, one of the ways to escape burnout syndrome is to immerse yourself in other things that can fill the void in the mind, such as hobbies.

In Wolmyeongdong, where the void in your mind will be filled, relieve the accumulated stress by following the trail as you commune with nature.
