[News Wave] Christian Gospel Mission Holds the 1st Friendly Soccer Tournament in KyungGi Region

12 JMS teams in Kyung-gi region gathered in one place.

On the 25th of May, the Kyung-gi branch of Christian Gospel Mission (a.k.a. the Mission) held the 1st friendly soccer tournament of ‘art’ and ‘praise’ in Suwon Yuh-gi-san sports park and the nearby field.

This tournament started together with the Mission’s soccer department, which has set as their purpose: raising young men of this land who have a healthy body and mind as leaders. It was a meaningful event that members and leaders of three parts of the Kyung-gi region (the eastern part, central part, and western part) participated in together with 12 representative soccer teams and pep teams from each part. 

[The event] began with an opening ceremony that started with Suwon region’s soccer association's chairman’s greeting and Suwon region’s representative pastor’s congratulatory address. With this as the start, the actual match took place after [players] were divided into three teams.  
 
Based on the messages related to soccer from President Jung, Myeong Seok of the Mission, the tournament proceeded with the Mission’s different game rules: people who made criticizing comments even to their teammates, people who said the slightest curse words, and also people who did not help others stand up when they caused them to fall down during the match all received yellow cards. This tournament was truly not about winning or losing, but it was a soccer [game] of love and peace in which people harmonized with and encouraged one another.

Jung, Jun Gyu of An-san who participated in the tournament said, “Despite each team playing many games, of about five, [the tournament] concluded well without anyone getting even a slight injury. So it was a time that greatly healed my body and mind.”

Moreover, the secretary-general of the Suwon soccer association who conducted the event shared, “It was a soccer tournament of love and peace carried out together with God, and it was a time in which everyone truly became one.”

Everyone participated to the end, until the closing ceremony, in which people gave glory and thanksgiving to the Trinity in harmony, and the tournament concluded with a promise to meet again next autumn.
