A Person in Search of His Beloved

- From Poems of Inspiration Vol.1

Ah,

Who will grasp this heart of mine?

I am search of him,

Traversing the rough plains and field of mountains,

Against the blowing wind.

Who has seen my beloved?

If you have seen him, do tell.

Do tell.

The mute moon should know,

As should those stars of the night.

Certainly, the shining sun would know more clearly.

Sun, moon, and stars,

Please realize my anxious heart.

He who does not respond, though I call,

Him whom I cannot forget,

I call him at the top of my lungs.

Only the echoes of the mountains

Return to me meaninglessly.

My beloved who, perhaps, has gone thousands, tens of thousands of ri away,

Come back, come back to me before winter’s arrival.

The heavens and the gods in the galaxy, should know.

They are not telling me, feigning ignorance, though they know,

Perhaps out of jealousy.

Ah, please realize this anxious heart of mine.

Please understand this undisclosable shimjeong.

When the sun has set and the moon has risen,

Along with the numerous stars,

My beloved, for whom I have sought until now,

Ah, on this deep night, I will go to the land of dreams and search for him.
