Signing the insurance that God provides by 김인주

Two days after the busy Lunar New Year’s Day, I went to visit my close friend’s father after being shocked from the news that he was in the hospital due to a brain stroke. On our visit, he was casually mumbling things to himself while sitting on the bed, but unexpectedly as soon as he saw our faces, tears flowed down his face.

From midnight to the 8am in the morning, he desperately struggled repeatedly, against the brink of death until the end of ultimately losing his consciousness. He told me that because he couldn’t even dial on the phone, he just endlessly called upon God all night long.

In response, his 6-year-old granddaughter was inspired to call him because she wanted to hear his voice. Thankful, he was connected to 119 (In North America, 911) and was hurriedly taken to the hospital. After the quick discernment of going to Seoul’s biggest hospital was made, he was able to go through the surgery right after his arrival because some other grandmother had just finished going through surgery for her brain stroke.

Right after the surgery, the surgeon went away to celebrate the holiday so if he had come the other day, he would not have been able to go through the surgery.

Although my close friend’s father still stammers because of his paralyzed and stiff body, pronunciation of words and his conscious were healed. As a result, I was able to see him truly acknowledging God.

In front of death, even the people who don’t believe God in their everyday lives and even the people who are boastful and full of themselves, they call upon God and seek Him, crying, “Ah… God!!”

My own children whom I love so much and my lover whom I cannot live without, they cannot be with me every day and every moment of my life nor can they protect my one and only life that is more precious than the entire Earth. Therefore, isn’t asking God to protect my life and to protect my beloved ones beforehand the best insurance of all?
