I asked my first son, the four-year-old, as a thought came to my mind when we were playing together about six months ago.
“Hey Eun-ho, do you want to go to Heaven?”
“Yup.”
“What do you want to do when you go there?”
“I’m going to meet the Lord.”
“What do you want to do when you meet Him?”
“I’m going to play block games with Him.”
I bursted out with a laughter since the child spoke so confidently.
The present
“Hey Eun-ho, do you want to go to Heaven?”
“Yup.”
“What do you want to do there?”
“I’m going to meet the Lord”
“What do you want to do with Him once you meet Him?”
“I want to live with the Lord. I am going to live with all of you--mommy, daddy, me, my brother Eun-chan, and the robots will all live together.”
It was kind of fascinating to see how the answer became different.
“But mom.. is our current home or the house in Heaven prettier?”
“Hmmm... Oh our home now is pretty but the house in Heaven is much prettier.”
“Really?”
“Yup. Eun-ho... but do you know what you need to do in order to go to Heaven to meet the Lord?”
“I don’t really know.”
“You need to eat well, not get into fight with friends, and also frequently call on the Lord.”
“Yup. I’m going to eat well, not fight with friends, and also pray to the Lord.”
In the course of six months, the four-year-old child has surely changed.
Whether it was by his own desire or through others’ influence, his thoughts grew and his curiosity too grew a lot.
I ask myself how much I have changed during those six months of time.
I reflect to see if I have stopped at my position, with the arrogant thought of already knowing the Lord’s heart towards me. At the same time, I am excited and nervous about the future teachings that the Lord will do through this child.
Today is the day when the Word of the Teacher came about how we must learn from our own children. There is something to learn although it may be extremely insignificant and little.
