Have you ever waited for a tow truck to tow your car because it ran out of gas all of sudden on the highway? Was there ever a time when you could not go to the hospital right away for the sake of your child, because you had no money in your bank account and your cards were unusable?
Everyone’s life has stories of difficult and tough events. As for me, yesterday, I drove ignoring the gas light. I continued to ignore getting gas even though I was repeating to myself that I needed to fill it up. I went to the gas station once the car had reached the point of almost coming to a stop.
The satisfaction at that moment was like the satisfaction of one’s hunger being sated. Once my car’s tank was filled, anxiety disappeared and my face brightened with hope. Just as we cannot drive if we do not have gas, just as we cannot buy even one thing without money, without righteousness or [good] deeds, we cannot exist in the heavenly world.
Although God protects and leads everyone with love, people have their own responsibilities. These are things that must be done by people, not by God. Just as we breathe and digest food by eating it, our responsibilities are things that one should do by oneself.
If you do your responsibilities 100% and do many righteous deeds before Heaven, you will live a life of driving a car that is always filled with gas and go forward powerfully. However, if you do not have righteousness or good deeds, and if you are filled with the anxiety of not knowing when gas will run out, you cannot go forward even with your capable body, just as how one cannot go forward even if it’s a car with a great engine.
Where is your gas station? What kind of gas are you getting and from what kind of station?
The greatest thing in the world is to do the work of saving one’sa physical body from death and, secondly, it is saving the spirit.
Occupations such as being a doctor, a nurse, a firefighter, and a police officer are jobs of directly related to saving lives, so the job itself is a job of building righteous deeds. It is such a great work.
I would say that the work of evangelizing, the work of helping not only people’s [physical] life but also their heart, mind and spirit, is a much greater work. How good would it be if we were to smile, love, forgive, and build righteousness in our lives, in spite of the fact that many difficult things could arise.
There are many different human perspectives of the world: views on life, the world, the opposite sex, and jobs, but the perspective of God is the most accurate. Even today, I check the gauge in my car of life. I have enough gas to run diligently today. I hope my spirit will become a phantom jet and soar high up to the sky, and I hope that each one of us will be an eagle that travels at 180 kph.
