'The First World Martial Arts Festival’ was held at the natural temple, WolMyeongDong, by people who practiced martial arts from within and outside of Korea.
The 300 people who participated in the festival performed various martial arts. From Korea, there was Taekwondo, Hapkido, bodyguard martial arts. From Japan, there was Karate and Judo, and from China, there was Palkeukkwon.
Although it was the first festival, the performers burned with passion, and everyone cheered for each other regardless of the type of martial arts that was being performed.
One staff member of the festival said, “It is very difficult for people who practice martial arts to get together and be united with one another because of their strong pride towards a certain martial arts, but in this event, everyone respected each other and applauded to those who worked hard although they were different. It was a festival of peace.”
The Martial Art Festival Organization Committee concluded, “In 2013, we will make a festival of unification and peace with more countries and more people.”
