Texas fall retreat in 2013 : Running Strong until the End
Recharging, Rejuvenating and Training
As we all know, when the end of the year comes around, people start getting tired and it gets harder to run at full potential. However, the end of the year is a very important time, and it is the time when we must push ourselves to run until the end, and finish strong. That is why last weekend, October 25 to 27, members of churches across Texas gathered at Pine Cove, a retreat facility near Dallas, to revitalize themselves and gain energy to run strong until the end of the year.
<Members from Dallas, Austin, and Houston attended the event.>
The retreat, which lasted two days, was a time in which the members got to give glory to God in many different ways. Whether it was prayer, praise, exercise, soccer, or sharing testimonies, the members gave their very best to make of this time a time to glorify the Trinity, keep unity, and enjoy every single moment.
<From kids to adults, everybody gave glory to God through working out.>
One of the most memorable activities was a scavenger hunt, in which the members were divided into three groups and were given a list of objects to find. Among the objects listed, the bonus was to find an image rock. As each team got into the task of “hunting for image rocks,” they found beautiful treasures of nature in truly amazing shapes, such as the silhouette of a cat, or the profile of a person.
On the other hand, through different competitions such as obstacle courses and soccer games, members got constant training. First, they improved their physical condition as they pushed themselves to the limit in each competition; they became more united as they worked together with their teammates; and finally, trained their brains as each activity was designed with the purpose of having each member realize something from it.
<The obstacle course consisted of four stages, including three-legged run and blind feeding.>
Finally, through a fiery praise and prayer night, the members got to set their hearts on fire once again by confessing their love to the Trinity, and setting their minds to run hard and make a beautiful history together with the Lord.
