“Adults don’t know~ They don’t know anything at all~”
This is part of a fun
song and an expression often made by my eldest daughter who is going into 4th grade. I thought that I was treating her at her level—understanding her point of view—but I guess, to her, it didn’t
look like that; so when I thought of that, my heart was not at ease.
During that time, my
mother came and stayed for a month.
My aged mother was expressing her love and care in her own way, but that made
me discouraged and depressed as I thought about how my mother was doing that
and constantly worrying because I wasn’t properly putting in much effort.
It is definitely love. It is a heartrending love. It is because I love that I am able to
understand and have the desire to treat my daughter better.
Although that time made
me understand my mother who was born in a struggling time period, going through
a lot of difficulties even more [than I did], I made up my mind to give the
kind of love that the
counterpart wants so that
we would be happier together!!
I was then determined to transform and change my harden thoughts even if it was difficult.
Although I, myself, thought that I was treating my mother comfortably while
considering her heart, there may have been a lot of times when our hearts didn’t match.
This could have just been
explained as the difference in the times that we were born in, but these
important moments are too precious for them to
be divided with a boundary; instead, we should jump over this
wall so that we can love together with our beloved ones!
Surely, yes!!
Wouldn’t love be to put
myself down and do the thing that my beloved one wants while thinking in that
person’s position.
Only when that happens
will I be able to do what my beloved really wants and provide true comforting
in the heart.
This
would be the same with
the love between God and us!
If
the problem was the difference in the times of birth, how could we overcome the
difference in time between us and God?
The
answer lies within the love that
the counterpart wants. It is effort.
