[Essay] Once again, spring
Blue Swan
Let’s pass through the tunnel of winter and vigorously run on the highway of spring.
Let’s sing a song of spring, being thankful for its warm sunshine.
One day, my child brought a plant pot that contained a tulip.
It bore a pretty bud. It looked like it was about to bloom.
One morning when the bud blossomed,
I was the first to notice so I told my child with joy that the flower had started to blossom.
But my child looked sad.
“It’s not red. It’s not red.”
I think my child was expecting a red flower.
For a while, I could only think about what to say to my child
before saying that yellow flowers were also pretty.
The next day, my child said that the yellow flower was red.
Since she kept insisting,
I said, “Yeah. It’s a red flower.”
Since that was what my child said, then that was what it was.
It was because she really wanted a red flower.
What does it matter if it is red or yellow?
Regardless of its color, it is still a pretty flower.
Sometimes we need the wisdom to think, “Yes. It is,” and then simply let it go
without spending too much time getting hung up on something so trival.
Soon, many kinds of flowers will start to bloom.
They are the flowers that have overcome the long, long winter and that have bloomed by putting their lives on the line during their time of opportunity.
In our lives as well, we pass through the tunnel of winter so many times.
And now, it is our time to blossom.
Even though your life may not be a flower with the color that you wanted, let’s not be disappointed or mad.
Let’s pass through the tunnel of winter and run on the highway of spring.
