‘Sweat drops’ like diamonds that are hidden in a field
There was a poor farmer living in a village. In order to overcome the severe poverty that he had been in since his childhood, he toiled making efforts day and night for his entire lifetime. In the end, he became a rich farmer who owned many servants and a big vineyard. Then when he got old and felt that his time of death was coming closer day by day, the biggest worry came into his mind. It was the laziness of his sons who were supposed to inherit the vineyard. He could foresee that after he died, his sons would sell the vineyard which he took care of for his entire lifetime and squander all the money, or they might not sell the vineyard right away but just let servants take care of the vineyard, live being lazy, and in the end, become poor.
The farmer was distressed for a few days, and one day, he gathered his sons.
“I feel like there are not many days left for me to live, so I should tell you my will. I have one secret to confess to you guys. Actually, I hid very precious treasures here and they’re in this vast vineyard. Once I die, I hope you can find all the treasures, share them with each other, and live loving each other. But, I did not bury the treasures under the grapevines, so do not touch them.”
The farmer actually died a couple of days later. As soon as the funeral was finished, to find the treasure that the farmer spoke about, his sons took out even the servants from their home and thoroughly dug all over the vineyard. In order to find the treasures, they worked hard, sweating day and night.
Even though they dug every place of that vast vineyard out arduously, they could not find even one treasure. They were discouraged and thought that their father deceived them. However, because the sons had dug out the yard, they had a good harvest that year and the vines bore grapes in clusters which were more appetizing and better than any other times. Therefore, they were able to sell the grapes at a very expensive price. Then finally, the sons realized that the treasures that their father hid were the ‘sweat drops’ like diamonds that he sprinkled here and there in the vineyard.
Something you can gain when you work with all your heart
The treasure that is fitting for farmers is the sweat drops that they shed while they are farming a field. In the same way, a treasure is something fitting ‘for you,’ and maybe that’s why God already permitted to us to obtain it in our life. Therefore, this treasure is not something that suddenly falls from the sky but something that you can gain when you work with all your heart.
Pastor Jung Myeong Seok said that he did not just gain Wolmyeongdong and Providence the way it is now, but he made them by toiling and struggling to the point where his hard work and the sweatdrops and teardrops of his heart formed a river. At this time when this year is coming to a close, we should know what is the treasure that God is allowing us to have and quickly hurry up to make that treasure shinier and more valuable. This is the true way to give glory and thanksgiving to the Holy Trinity who has given precious treasures to us, and it is the right way to express our love.
